During mid December (2010), we started working on the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network’s production of the “University of Connecticut Women’s Basketball 2010-2011 Yearbook”.

This publication was a replacement for the yearly “Media Guide” that was going to be made available only on-line for the 2010-11 season and going forward. As a replacement piece for the CPTV viewers, Jack Callahan and Harriet Unger, Executive Producer of UConn Women’s Basketball, created the concept around a “Yearbook” that would be full color with a tactile cover (you can actually feel the texture of the basketballs in Maya Moore and Lorin Dixon’s hands on the cover). Coach Geno Auriemma graces the back cover with a silhouette of the UConn Pep Band. The entire front and back cover are dimpled using dimensional clear ink to replicate the feeling of a basketball when you hold it. (Oh…the magic of our Kodak SE2500 NexPress)

 Working with an incredible team at CPTV that included Todd Gray, one of the most talented designers any of us has ever worked with and Lee Newton’s wordsmith prowess,  as well as the supporting cast of Carol Sisco, Alex Miller (catch his article on page 83) and Emily Caswell, This incredible yearbook was brought to life during the holiday season.
